Effective Messaging
I read the content of many people, including those of you reading this email. One of the things that I see is that some of you don't think about how you are putting your thoughts together to attract the prospects that you desperately want to sell to. Messaging is something that people do not always think about, but they do it whether they realize it or not.
This week, we are going to talk about how to deliver the message that you want your prospects to see and hear rather than just scatter shooting while wondering what happened to bands like The Police.
Grab the strong black coffee and let's get cracking at how you can construct messages in your content that convert people into customers.
Message In A Bottle
In 1979 The Police released Reggatta de Blanc. The bassist, whom you may recognize as Sting, wrote the most iconic song on that record "Message In A Bottle". Its a catchy tune that reached the number one position on the UK pop charts where the band heralded from. Sadly, it only ever reach number 74 on the charts in the US.
One of the memorable lyrics from the chorus is "I hope someone gets my message in a bottle". When you think about scribbling a message on a piece of paper and setting it adrift in the ocean, it can be overwhelmingly depressing. Will anyone ever see it? If someone does find it, will they think I'm stupid? This feels hopeless really.
Sting himself talks about the loneliness in the lyrics. Many entrepreneurs end up attempting to market their businesses sending SOS messages in bottles. They scribble some things down. They roll it up and place it in a bottle. When they set it out into the sea of the internet they hope someone gets it and decides to do business with them. We are right back at that hopeless feeling.
This week on Uncle Ron's Porch, we are looking at how you can move from those messages in a bottle to something much more dependable. We will move through aligning our beliefs with prospects, engaging the neurons in our brains, and the currencies found in the messages we send. Once you have those building blocks, we dive head first in deploying it.
So gather round and get your dose of message better than being in a bottle.
