After last week's discussion of Selling on Value, I was reviewing my notes from a conference I attended a couple of weeks ago. There was a fantastic speaker from one of the companies my insurance agency represents talking about your unique value proposition.
He delivered an impactful presentation about what sets you apart from others. He used the phrase "the sea of sameness" because that is a large part of what most of have become. The same, boring old person who is mimicking others trying to make a buck.
You have to stand out friends. Being the same as everyone else sucks.
That's our focus this week. Pour the strong black coffee today and get ready to stand out from the sea of sameness.
Have you ever stared at a koi pond? Looking from the top, there can appear to be no activity in the water. You stand there waiting and watching, and the pond can feel monotone, even though its serene. The glassy water doesn't break and you see what often looks like the same fish over and over again swimming past.
It's not uncommon for their to be lily pads in koi ponds. They provide nutrients to the ecosystem and allow for a specific aesthetic to be found. The koi fish can easily hide underneath this vegetation. Everything begins to look the same.
While this view may do wonders for your relaxation and meditation, it can also produce a feeling that nothing is going on. Nothing is changing. There just isn't much excitement.
But when you throw some koi food in the water, that all changes. The water breaks, and the koi begin to swarm. The appearance of discolored fish makes you realize that not only is there multiple fish in the pond, but some look vastly different from others.
My goal this week on The Porch is to help you be that darkly colored koi with the brightest spots this week so that you can snap up all of the food being thrown in the pond. It's not easy to stand out sometimes, but you have it in you.
Elevating above the sea of sameness can allow you to thrive selling on the unique value that you bring!
It's time to learn. Again.
So gather round and pour the coffee. It's time to learn. Again.
