Starting From Scratch

We all have to start from somewhere. If you are not buying an established business with a web presence and marketing strategies, the thought of what to do first can be overwhelming. I have a friend who is being tasked with this exact process and he posed the question to me what I would do in his shoes.

I told him that I would hire me to do it. 😁 As we worked through his options to begin the process, it occurred to me that you could benefit from these ideas, thoughts, and plans. That is the genesis of this week's episodes. And we will work through the three key ways that you can create content and which one I would start with.

So grab the coffee and let's get to work!

Scratch Kitchen

One thing that many locally owned restaurants brag about is that everything they serve is made in house from scratch in their kitchen. It is a badge of honor and something that many customers will gravitate towards when selecting a place to eat out. Myself included.

When you hear the words scratch kitchen, there are expectations about what is happening with the food. The customer knows that your restaurant isn't taking things from bag or bottles. They know that your love and creativity is being applied to what they are making so that it can be a special dining experience. Knowing your pasta sauce wasn't purchased from a store or supply company means that it is unique and just for you.

These scratch kitchens do have recipes. They need to predictably be able to provide you with a consistently great meal. These recipes are specific to the restaurant and the chef who runs it, but also very necessary. Some of these kitchens do take it a step further with a "Fresh, Never Frozen" mantra. But that is up to the supply chain and owner. Each choice comes with a price tag and sustainability.

As you begin building your website and creating content for it, you are in your own scratch kitchen. This week on The Porch I've got some recipes for you so that it can be consistently produced. It's up to you to decide if you want it to be all fresh and never frozen.

So gather round and let's talk about how you can build a website that is sustainable, unique to you, and wildly successful. The coffee is flowing.
