Uncle Ron's Porch - Decisive Actions Allow For Feedback Loops

Being Decisive

The past two weeks have been hardcore views into marketing principles. They stand the test of time no matter what tactics you use to deploy them. One of the big problems that many people have is deciding on which tactic they will use and what to say in the deployment.

Paralysis in business and marketing is a very real thing. The faster you get over it, the better off you will be because it will allow you to make progress. We have to be decisive and take action now.

That's our focus this week. Pour the strong black coffee today and get ready to make moves in propelling your business forward.

Endless Loops

During college, I took a Pascal language computer programming class as part of my math degree course work. I would venture a strong guess that no one is still programming anything Pascal. It's as dead as the guy it was named after. But that isn't the point.

As you take beginning programming classes, you are introduced to concepts that are applicable in any computer language that you may ever want to program in. Objects, variables, decision trees, loops, and on and on. You have to learn these concepts before you can begin to make anything meaningful.

In the early days of that semester, we were working on decision trees to accomplish various options. The assignment was fairly simple. We were trying to design a monitor to wait for a change and then take action. Think of it as the computer spying on a conversation waiting for you to say something meaningful and then punishing you for it. Almost sounds like what Facebook does for the ads in your feed, no?

The downside to programming something like this is that the monitor has to be engaged indefinitely. It is endless until the meaningful thing happens. If you are not careful, you can be caught in that loop if you do not actually get the decision tree based on the spying mechanism. And that is really bad.

This week, we are going to look at the feedback loop you can deploy when you actually take action in marketing your business. Just like my monitoring loop, you have to take decisive action and then deploy based on logic.

But without taking action and having a feedback loop in place, you're just caught in an endless loop of suck. Now you see where we are headed on The Porch this week!
